Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies

The Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (MAIS) in ASU’s New College, West campus, is an innovative degree designed for students from all disciplines who wish to problem-solve with “out of the box” thinking. “MAIS is a new degree for the new century, offered by The New American University,” says Program Director, Dr. Robert D. Taylor. “Our faculty are dedicated professionals ready to teach a new wave of student-professionals eager to build effective careers in challenging environments; people who are motivated, skilled, capable of stepping up to the demands of the today’s workplace.” We encourage In-Service Teachers, City Employees from Phoenix and the West Valley, Non-Profit Leaders, Artists, Musicians, Digital Media Specialists, Corporate Managers and others to join cohorts of students in our exciting program.” Core courses in creative and critical thinking, research and problem-solving skills, plus electives specially selected for individual students, or grouped into concentration areas, such as Civic Leadership, Non-Profit Studies, Visual Cultures, English, Applied Arts, and Cultural Studies are followed by a final Capstone Course that can take a variety of directions.
