Assistant Professors – Toxicology/Environmental Chemistry and Ecology

The Division of Mathematical and Natural Sciences in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at the West campus of Arizona State University invites applications for two positions at the Assistant Professor level in the areas of: 1) toxicology/environmental chemistry and 2) ecology. Applicants with expertise in any subfield of the above research areas will be considered; however, preference will be given to applicants whose work: 1) can provide undergraduate students with laboratory and/or field experience, and 2) complements current faculty research programs.

General information: The Division of Mathematical and Natural Sciences (http://www.newcollege.asu.edu/divisions/mns/) at Arizona State University is a broad-based mathematics and natural science unit that encompasses biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, computing, and statistics. The Division emphasizes hands-on experience for undergraduates in faculty research programs and internships. Successful candidates will be expected to teach both lower division general and upper division specialty courses; establish a vigorous, externally-funded program of research in which undergraduates participate; and contribute service to the university. We offer a B.S. degree in Life Sciences and a minor in Chemistry. Faculty can participate in university-wide graduate programs. New degrees in Environmental Science and Forensic Science are planned. The Division is committed to recruiting and retaining students and faculty from groups that have historically been underrepresented in the natural sciences.

Qualifications required for both positions: Ph.D. in relevant discipline. Ability to contribute to the Division in the areas of teaching, research, and service. Commitment and ability to work with a diverse student population.

Qualifications desired for both positions: Interest in and ability to contribute to newly developing programs in Environmental Science and Forensic Science. Postdoctoral research experience and interest in establishing interdisciplinary research programs with other faculty in the Division.
